New Year, New Starts… and Finding Motivation with Pole Fitness

The New Year comes with a lot of noise.
“New year, new you.” “Set your goals.” “Smash your resolutions.” “Be motivated.”
And while I love the idea of fresh starts, the reality is… motivation doesn’t magically appear just because the calendar changes.
For many of us — especially those of us with ADHD — motivation can be unpredictable. Some days we feel full of ideas, passion and vision. Other days, even the things we love, like pole fitness, can feel heavy, overwhelming, or just out of reach.
And that’s okay.
When Motivation Isn’t Consistent
I’ll be honest — motivation is something I’ve struggled with for most of my life. Having ADHD means my energy and focus don’t always behave the way I want them to. I can feel deeply driven, yet still find it hard to start. I can have big dreams, but also days where everything feels like too much.
The New Year can actually make that harder. There’s pressure to be “on it” straight away — to know exactly where you’re going and to move fast.
But growth doesn’t always look like that. Sometimes it looks like showing up anyway. Sometimes it looks like going slow. Sometimes it looks like doing the thing even when motivation is low — because you believe in where it might lead.
Why Pole Dancing Helps Me Reconnect
Pole dancing has been one of the most grounding things in my life. Not because it’s easy — it isn’t — but because it brings me back into my body. It reminds me that progress doesn’t have to be perfect, linear, or fast. It just has to be honest.
On days where my brain feels loud or scattered, pole fitness gives me focus. On days where my confidence dips, pole dancing reminds me of my strength. On days where motivation is low, movement helps me shift it — gently, without forcing.
Pole isn’t just exercise. It’s expression, connection, challenge, and joy — all wrapped into one. If you’re curious about the mental and emotional benefits, you can read more in my blog on The Mental Health Benefits of Pole Fitness.
Pushing Through for a Bigger Dream in 2026
As I step into 2026, I’m holding onto a big vision — even on the days when motivation wobbles. I’m building new pole classes

in Guiseley, spaces that are about more than just fitness. I want to create environments where people feel safe, supported, and celebrated exactly as they are. Where strength is built without pressure. Where confidence grows naturally. Where movement feels like joy, not punishment.
Pushing through doesn’t mean burning out. It means choosing my dream even on quieter days. It means trusting that consistency — not perfection — is what creates change.
Some days that looks like bold action. Other days it’s small, steady steps. Both count.
New Classes, New Energy, Same Heart
This year, I’m bringing new pole classes and new ideas into my studio — all rooted in the belief that movement should feel empowering, accessible, and human.
Whether you’re:
Returning to movement after a break
Struggling with motivation or confidence
Neurodivergent and needing flexibility and understanding
Or simply craving something for you
Pole fitness can meet you where you are.
You don’t need to feel “ready. ”You don’t need perfect motivation. You just need curiosity — and a willingness to try.
A Gentle Reminder for the New Year
If this New Year feels exciting — amazing. If it feels overwhelming — you’re not alone .If motivation comes and goes — that doesn’t mean you’re failing.
Growth isn’t about forcing yourself to change overnight. It’s about choosing yourself again and again, in small ways.
As I keep pushing forward to make my dreams real in 2026, my hope is that my new classes help others do the same — to feel stronger, more confident, and more connected to themselves than they ever thought possible.
Because sometimes, a new start doesn’t begin with motivation.
It begins with movement.
Check out my classes and join me this year!
